MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

The Forces Network is broadcasting a week-long series of reports and interviews looking at mental health issues in forces communities.

Forces TV will show clips online taken from a recent interview with Prince Harry. He describes how his experiences in Afghanistan were the trigger to deal with his own mental health problems:
“Not to get too personal but if you lose your mum at the age of 12 then you’ve got to deal with it.
“…15, 17 years later, I still hadn’t dealt with it. Afghan was the moment ...”
Forces Radio BFBS is taking part in the Mental Health Minute, a nationwide initiative involving hundreds of radio stations across the UK simultaneously playing a one-minute message. The audio features famous voices talking about mental health and will be broadcast at 10.59am on Tuesday 15th May.

FIND A JOB - NEW JOB SEARCHING SERVICE

Yesterday (14 May) saw the launch of Find a job, the new service that will help make job searching and recruitment simpler.

Benefits of the new service
The new Find a job service replaces Universal Jobmatch. It offers a simple way for jobseekers to look for work and for employers to post job adverts. It has:
  • a simple login process
  • an enhanced search function
  • a facility for jobseekers to upload and share their CVs whilst automatically recording onsite activity and job applications
  •
Help spread the word
If you are looking to advertise a vacancy, or simply have friends or family who are searching for a job or need help to recruit, tell them about Find a job.  It might just make their job search or recruitment that bit easier.

NORTH YORKSHIRE COMMUNITY MESSAGING

Most people who call at your home will be genuine. But sometimes, people turn up unannounced, with the intention of tricking their way into your home. They are known as 'bogus callers' or 'distraction burglars', whose only aim is to get into your home by distracting you to steal money or valuables.

Bogus callers sometimes work in pairs or even teams and are often well organised. One will distract you while the other searches the house for money or other valuables. They can be men, women or children (or often a combination). Watch out for anyone who says they are in a hurry. Don't let them pressure or confuse you.
