SIXTY racecourses have invited members of the Armed Forces to join them at the races this season through the military charity Tickets For Troops.
There are 60 racecourses across Britain from Perth in Scotland to Newton Abbot in Devon.
These and all other racecourses including Bangor-on-Dee, Doncaster, Fontwell Park and Sandown Park have all signed up to support the Armed Forces community with a donation of FREE tickets to their prestigious race days.
Many troops who benefit from Tickets For Troops (www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk) endure long periods of separation from their families due to operational tours and training exercises or living apart from their families during the week.

In partnership with the British Horseracing Authority, Tickets For Troops have distributed over 65,000 free tickets from the horse racing community.

THE GEORGIAN THEATRE - LA VOIX 31 MARCH 17 AT 19:30

Press Release
Date of Issue: 8 March 2017

Britain’s Got Talent star returns to home patch for one-night show

One of Britain’s top drag queens is shimmying back to ‘her’ roots in a rare show at Richmond’s Georgian Theatre Royal at the end of this month.

La Voix who originates from Elm Tree, Stockton-on-Tees, rose to national stardom as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2014 and a 2015 finalist in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. She also appeared in last year’s hit Absolutely Fabulous Movie and her act is a favourite with the Royal family, having performed at New Year parties hosted by Princes William and Harry.

La Voix’s Richmond date on Friday 31 March is the first time she has performed in the region and is the only English 2017 tour date north of Manchester.

“The intimacy of The Georgian Theatre Royal, where no seat is further than 10 metres from the stage, is perfect for this type of act,” said Theatre Manager Clare Allen. “La Voix is a vivacious and highly entertaining performer and her cabaret show – with live singing and music – is very classy, very glamorous and super stylish.

“As far as we know, this is a first for the Theatre but we are sure that it will appeal to a wide range of people, from lovers of cabaret and high-energy, top-class entertainment, to those appreciating the avant-garde and wanting to try something a bit different,” she added.

The artist’s Red Hot Globe Trot tour promises an evening of fun and spontaneity that will focus on hilarious stories of La Voix’s travels across the globe. It will be set against a show-stopping backdrop of diva anthems celebrating the vocal styles of Tina Turner, Shirley Bassey, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland and Cher.

La Voix, 36, - who went to Egglescliffe School, Stockton-on-Tees - started out as TV celebrity David Gest’s PA and during her career has worked closely with many big stars including Mickey Rooney, Cilla Black, Sir Ian McKellen, Pamela Anderson, Brigitte Nielsen and Ruby Wax.

Since bursting onto the cabaret scene some ten years ago, she has developed a trademark brand of glamour and humour, which has led to many prestigious awards including Best Cabaret Act at the London Cabaret Awards, winner of Drag Idol and most recently best act at the Boys Scene Awards.

La Voix will be joined on stage by singer Samantha Atkinson who was on The X Factor last year.

La Voix’s Red Hot Globe Trot is at The Georgian Theatre Royal on Friday 31 March at 7.30pm. Tickets costing from £11 to £21 (includes restoration levy) are available from the Theatre’s Box Office on 01748 825252 or online via the website: www.georgiantheatreroyal.co.uk

PRINCE HARRY VISITS THE BIG WHITE WALL

As you may have seen, we were delighted to welcome Prince Harry to Big White Wall yesterday. The Prince was given a demonstration of our web services and he engaged in a wide ranging discussion about mental health issues with some of our clinical and senior management teams. Following the meeting the Prince was quoted saying: "I love this. I might sign up for it myself"

Through the Royal Foundation's work with the Head's Together campaign, Prince Harry along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are leading advocates of improving treatment and breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.

The visit was covered widely in the media and you can view a video of the visit on our Youtube channel.
