On June 17 2017, the Staging Napoleonic Theatre Team is hosting a free public workshop at the Georgian Theatre Royal on the traditions and acting techniques of nineteenth-century melodrama. Attendees will get the chance to work with a group of highly trained melodrama specialists, as well as a professional director, in order to develop skills specific to melodrama. These will include:

-The externalisation of emotion
-The ability to move to music
-The vocal delivery of a melodramatic script

The workshop will end with the chance to audition for a role in a performance of a nineteenth-century melodrama that we will be rehearsing/staging at the Georgian Theatre Royal in August 2017 (20th-25th), as part of the Georgian Festival.

We'd love to get as many locals involved as possible, to make this a real community event. The play is set in a garrison, and roles include a General, a Lieutenant, a sentimental  prisoner, and a drunken castle-keeper.  Parts range from serious to comic, and are available for both men and women, of varying ages.

The workshop is open to anyone over the age of 16, and food and drink is provided.

Booking is essential. Please see the following link for the booking form and further information:
Alternatively, to book your place by phone, or for any further queries, please call Sarah on 07958537280, or Kate on 07947599748.

Warmest wishes,
